Title: Guardians of the Galaxy vol.2 Director: James Gunn Writers: James Gunn, Dan Abnett (based on the Marvel comics by) Stars: Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista Year: 2017 | Duration: 2h 16mins
Synopsis:
The Guardians must fight to keep their newfound family together as they unravel the mystery of Peter Quill's true parentage.
Review:
It’s pretty evident that I’m a Marvel fan, so there is no need to say it again… for that reason it’s obvious I would want to watch Guardians of the Galaxy vol.2. The first movie is one of my favourites from Marvel Cinematic Universe, due to the comedy and comic relief; and that has happened again in this second movie.
We can easily summarize this movie as daddy issues, which may seem simplistic, but it doesn’t have to be. I won’t write much about this movie; although it’s a really funny movie (and full of easter eggs), I think I enjoyed the first movie more than this one. Nevertheless, have in mind that I really liked this movie, and I would always recommend this movie to anyone.

Sinopse:
Four years have passed since a fairy swarm released the voice of prophecy in Nell Brennan. In that painful moment, a skilled warrior became a reluctant leader and defender of Aluvia’s magic. Now a new enemy threatens their still-fragile lands, one Nell feels powerless to stop even with help from the voice within her. A mysterious dark alchemist from the Ice-Locked Lands is rising to power on the strength of his sword arm and an ice-breathing dragon obedient to his command. He promises unlimited magic to his followers and death to those who defy him. If he takes over the ports, his corrupt elixirs will disrupt the delicate balance of peace between Aluvia's people and all magical creatures. The voice of prophecy sends Nell and her friends to their enemy’s treacherous domain to find a sword of legend. Only the sword’s magic can prevent a return to a world of dying fairies and caged merfolk. But Nell’s up against the toughest foe she’s ever faced. Opinião:
Este é o terceiro e último livro da série World of Aluvia.

Review:
This is third and final book of the series World of Aluvia. The first one was about Sierra, the second one about Phoebe and the third one is about Nell, although all of them had characters almost has important as these main female characters.
Nell is a warrior and she feels that her life is a bit out her control, since (in the first book) she was stung by fairies, survived and awakened the magic inside her, which made her a prophetess who spoke for Aluvia’s salvation. Although she understood the importance of her mission, and how much her life had improved with it, Nell misses… not really fighting, but the feel of having a sword in her hand, so to speak. And Corbin, her love and fairy keeper, doesn’t understand her hunger for something more than just being a prophetess and a healer.
When Aluvia finds itself confronted with a new villain than wants to steal magic from magic beings and make them all obey him (in his mind giving the power to humans – meaning him), Nell, Corbin, Sierra, Micah, Phoebe and Tristan find themselves in a new mission through iced lands.
Nell is haunted by dark magic that pulls to the surface her worst traits and she has to fight not only a physical battle, but an emotional one as well – not just for who she really is, but for her friends too. I really liked seeing how much she had evolved since the first book.
I don’t want to spoil the plot for those of you who might want to read this book, so I’ll just say that magic is still the main theme, with interpersonal relationships going through several tests. I was a bit sad that most of the book is just Nell (and Corbin), and I missed the rest of the group – they were there, but it was almost like they weren’t missed or needed, which I didn’t feel in the previous books. It’s true that are moments when Micah and Tristan’s magic is indispensable, but it’s not really their magic (as individuals) but Earth and Water magic, which could have been used by other characters (had they been created, of course). Sierra was probably the least important and present character for me, which was a shame. I wanted to see some bonding time between these enemy-to-friends girls, and maybe have Sierra support Nell a bit more. I wish there had been more interaction between the whole group of friends and not just Nell and Corbin, and Nell and the Dragon (the villain, the man that wants to steal Aluvia’s magic).
I liked Reading about Nell’s interior fight and how the voice that made her a prophetess manifested itself throughout the book and I enjoyed the ending particularly, which included a story of redemption and evolution. It was a good ending for this series although it missed some crucial points.

O meu herói em The Most Dangerous Duke é meio frânces.
7) Parabéns pelo seu novo livro The Most Dangerous Duke in London.
9) Tem alguma citação favorita do livro The Most Dangerous Duke in London?
I have thought since I first met you that you carried a darkness in you,” she said. “ Something that made you brood. Just now, while we were together in pleasure, I was spared even the slightest touch of grief for the first time in six months. It seemed to me that perhaps the darkness lifted in you too, for a while. If so, I am glad.” It had lifted, in ways it never had in France no matter whose bed he shared. That she had noticed impressed him. That she was glad for it touched him.
10) O que se segue? Sabemos que The Most Dangerous Duke in London é parte de uma série.

Hello hello! This month we interview the amazing author Madeline Hunter, an author that Joana had the pleasure to meet in person, and someone who gave us goodies which allowed us to the giveaways for you! Her most recent book is going to be published on May 30, so we thought this was the ideal time for an interview.
Every single one of our books reviews and different posts related to Madeline Hunter can be found here, just like the review of The Most Dangerous Duke.
First of all, we’d like to thank Madeline Hunter for been available and so soon answering our questions, and for been such an extraordinary person and writer. Her books are essential for any historical romance readers, like Joana. And, without further ado, here follows the interview!
1) For those that are reading your name for the first time today, what is the main thing you’d like them to know?
I write historical romances. Most of them are set in the early 19th century, but some of my earliest were in the Middle Ages. While my characters live in England, in some books they travel elsewhere in Europe for part of the book. My characters are not all English, or totally English. The hero of The Most Dangerous Duke in London is half French. I have even had a half Portuguese heroine (The Sins of Lord Easterbrook).
I guess readers should know going in that my books are sensual and that I do not close the bedroom door. I would not want someone to come upon those scenes without knowing they will be there. All of my books are also richly plotted, with an intrigue or mystery along with the romance.
2) f a reader is new to your books, which one would you suggest them to read first?
Oh, dear, this is hard. It really depends on what they like to read. Adventures? Then The Counterfeit Mistress. Arranged marriages? Anything from my first book By Arrangement to The Wicked Duke. Perhaps it would be best to start with my first Regency, however. The Seducer. Daniel St. John remains a favourite character among readers, and Diane is a very distinctive heroine.
3) You write historical romances. Is this your favourite genre to read as well? Or do you prefer to read something different? What are your favourite authors?
I read all over the field of romance, but historical remain my favourites. I also read mainstream historical fiction, history books, biographies, and mysteries. I never name my favourite authors because I am sure to leave someone out who I admire and they might feel bad.
4) Does your everyday life influence your writing? What inspires you to write?
My everyday life does not affect my writing directly, although I think every writer draws from her experiences. A lot of “me” is in my books without any of them duplicating specific experiences. For example, if I am writing a scene where my character is reacting to something, most likely she will react the way I would react. In terms of plotting, I think my background as an art historian has affected some of my stories, and the way I describe scenes is often influenced by certain styles of painting.
5) Do you see yourself in any of your characters? Have you ever created a character based on someone you know?
I have rarely based a character on someone I know, but it has happened. Twice that I can think of easily, and probably more times than that. I see myself in every character, which is odd. Even the men. Even the villains. But none of the heroines is “me”, if that makes sense.
6) Where do you get your ideas? Do you work with an outline/plot or do you prefer to just see where an idea leads you? Do you use any images to base characters/scenarios/objects on?
I always work out my ideas to make sure there is actually a book there. Otherwise, I risk writing 200 pages only to say “OOPS, there is nothing more to do with this idea!” My ideas come from all over. Something I see or a situation I witness, or just out of my imagination. I do not choose faces to go with my characters, but I do sketch out the rooms, buildings, grounds, and things like that so I move my characters through those spaces consistently.
7) Congratulations on your new book, The Most Dangerous Duke in London. Please tell us a bit about it.
This is the first book of a series, so part of it is introducing the readers to that series’ world and characters. The story is about a man who inherits his father’s title after his father commits suicide. He goes to France, and as the book opens he has returned after five years to pick up his life and duties, but also to discover the truth behind the rumours that led to his father’s death. When he meets the daughter of his most likely enemy, things get complicated. So it is a revenge story combined with what we call “enemies to lovers” story.
8) What will make us fall in love with Adam Penrose? And what’s your favourite characteristic about Clara Cheswick?
Adam is of course gorgeous and charming, but also dark and wounded. He is also very persistent where Clara is concerned. Clara is smart and independent, and does not put up with a lot of nonsense from anyone, especially men. She is very centred and knows her own mind very well.
9) Do you have a favourite quote from The Most Dangerous Duke in London?
I have several, but this one shows how their relationship starts moving from mere attraction toward love, and how a story that has lots of humour and high-spirited sparring also has emotional depths: “I have thought since I first met you that you carried a darkness in you,” she said.
10) What comes next? We know The Most Dangerous Duke in London is part of a series. What can you tell us about the rest of the books?
Book #2 is titled A Devil of a Duke. I am writing it now. The Duke of Langford (Gabriel) is the most unreformed of the dukes, and given to wine, women and song. Then he becomes intrigued by a woman he meets at a ball, whose identity he does not know. She in turn needs his aid in completing a goal she has been given, but cannot risk his ever learning who and what she is. As for book #3, the Duke of Brentworth’s---I am still mulling that story.
Thank you so much for joining us, and we look forward to talking to you again!
Thank you so much for having me.

Review:
First of all, I want to thank to Curiosity Quills for sending me Alice Takes Back Wonderland so I could read it. I’m always ready to read anything related to Wonderland.
To be honest, I don’t know what I was expecting from this book. The beginning was boring, and I must confess, I only continued with my reading because it was an eARC sent to me so I could review it. But I’m glad I did it, because it got a lot better. I didn’t know Alice Takes Back Wonderland was suppose to mix so many different fairy tales (just to name a few: Peter Pan, Pinocchio, Snow White… and so many others, but also mythologies as Greek and Viking), and I think it was the best part of the book, in my opinion. There are crossovers between fairy tales, and some characters even overlap – I will not reveal any of them, so I avoid spill spoilers.
Although this book gets better halfway through it, it's a bit unsatisfactory. I didn’t feel the nonsense and wonder usually associated to Wonderland. I felt disappointed, even though it was a half decent reading. It was actually well written, the author did a good job. But for me, there is missing something really important for a book related to Wonderland.

Clara may be the woman Adam wants, but there’s one problem: she’s far more interested in publishing her women’s journal than getting married—especially to a man said to be dead-set on vengeance. Though, with her nose for a story, Clara wonders if his desire for justice is sincere—along with his incredibly unnerving intention to be her husband. If her weak-kneed response to his kiss is any indication, falling for Adam clearly comes with a cost. But who knew courting danger could be such exhilarating fun?

The Most Dangerous Duke in London não se enquadra nesta categoria.

Personality traits: Dark and brooding, with a thirst for revenge.
Ideal romantic partner: A woman of means, with beauty and brains, willing to live with reckless abandon.
Desire: Clara Cheswick, gorgeous daughter of his family’s sworn enemy.
FAINT OF HEART NEED NOT APPLY
Clara may be the woman Adam wants, but there’s one problem: she’s far more interested in publishing her women’s journal than getting married—especially to a man said to be dead-set on vengeance. Though, with her nose for a story, Clara wonders if his desire for justice is sincere—along with his incredibly unnerving intention to be her husband. If her weak-kneed response to his kiss is any indication, falling for Adam clearly comes with a cost. But who knew courting danger could be such exhilarating fun?

Review:
I think I’ve found my favourite Madeline Hunter’s book so far. Although I always appreciate and like her books, they sometimes seem to be a bit below my expectations – but not this one. The Most Dangerous Duke in London doesn’t fit that category. I really enjoyed it and couldn’t put it down.
The base of the plot is related to revenge, and these are usually my favourite plots, but in this case, the story was so well put together that what mattered wasn’t so much the revenge plan but the growth of the relationship between Adam and Clare.
Clare is a strong, independent woman, who knows what she wants and is very smart and intelligent. Adam is a duke that finds himself confronted with a choice and at that moment he sees Clare, in her horse, at the top of a hill – and, being she the daughter of a deceased man who might have had something to do with Adam’s family tragedy, he cannot put her aside and let her go – she was at the right place, on the right time.
Clare’s family wants to use her younger sister almost like a sacrifice to placate Adam’s supposed anger and rage, but when he sees Clare, he doesn’t even think twice about her little sister.
Clare and Adam have an important attraction, but more than that, what matters is how their relationship grows with friendship and companionship.
With a plot that has mystery, betrayal, connections to France and the war, as well as a romance that keep you holding on to the book, this has become my favourite book by Madeline Hunter.
E vocês, qual a vossa favorita?
The most delicious cover: The original cover (the one on the left)
Why? Carla: I'm not fan of either cover, but I think the original cover (the one on the left) is more appealing and pleasing to the eye than the Portuguese cover.
Joana: I really like both covers… The original has fluid green tones that I like and the Portuguese cover has more a pink shade and, of course, a reader on the cover which is a point for them! The Portuguese cover maintains the same type of cover has the other ones in this series, and you might not be able to tell right away that it’s an historical romance (except for the title), whereas the original cover is easily recognizable as a historical romance. In the end, I’m torn between both covers....
I’m here today to show you another Etsy store; this time is Nerdy Grl Designs. I’ve been checking out this store for a while, since I discovered it on Instagram. It has such adorable things, and I always wanted some. I took advantage of St. Patrick’s Day and used the discount to make my first order.
According to what I know, all orders has a freebie, and since I made my order on St. Patrick’s weekend I got a pot of gold. And what I ordered? Three magnetic bookmarks sets: Princess Sparkles Unicorn, Doctor Who and, and Sailor Moon (which is a pity there isn’t a set with the other Sailors!). On top of that I also ordered two “normal” bookmarks: one Doctor Who themed (duuuh, obvs!) and another from Suicide Squad with a quote from Harley Quinn.
All bookmarks have such good quality and they are all beautiful, although I think the shipping took a bit too long, comparing to other similar Etsy stores. Nevertheless, I loved evbeything I got, and I will definitely going back a buy more stuff in the future.
