Capa mais deliciosa: A capa nacional (a da direita)
Porquê? Carla: Para ser sincera, não gosto de nenhuma das capas. Mas tendo que escolher diria a capa nacional, sendo que tens cores mais agradáveis e neutras.
Joana: Adoro a capa portuguesa. Os tons em creme, a beleza intemporal. Os pormenores do fundo que me fazem lembrar os palácios e casas históricas. A beleza de como todo o enquadramento está feita. É uma capa que prima por não ter muito – tem exactamente o suficiente e chama a atenção. A capa original, por outro lado, acaba por ser mais uma entre muitas deste género literário, e perde por isso mesmo. Gosto do vestido azul, mas já a letra utilizada tanto para o nome da autora como para o título não são das que mais gosto. Resumindo, prefiro a portuguesa.

Why? Carla: To be entirely honest, I don’t like any of the covers. But if I had to choose one I’d say the Portuguese cover, since it has more neutral and pleasing colours.
Joana: I love the Portuguese cover. The crème shape, the timeless beauty. The details on the back remind me of palaces and historical houses. The beauty of the how the framework is done. It’s a cover than doesn’t have too much on it – it has just enough to catch our eye. The original cover, on the other hand, ends up being just one more between many of this literary genre – and it falls short exactly because of it. I like the blue dress, but not the font used both on the title and the author’s name. In short, I prefer the Portuguese cover.

Juntamente com o lendário semideus Maui, Vaiana vai explorar oceanos, encontrando pelo caminho enormes criaturas do mar profundo e submundos de cortar a respiração.
Opinião:
Eu queria ver Moana desde que se começou a falar deste filme pela internet. Uma coisa é inegável: a Disney tem nas suas equipas animadores extraordinários e com um talento incrível. Fiquei maravilhada a nível visual, com o cabelo flutuante da Moana, e as cores vibrantes e toda a fluidez de movimentos.
Moana, filha do chefe de uma tribo da ilha de Motunui na Polinésia, é escolhida pelo Oceano para recuperar o coração de uma mística Deusa. Ela tem que encontrar Maui, um semideus, e devolver o coração de Te FiTi a onde pertence. Este é o lado que mais adoro deste filme: girl power! Moana tem a ajuda de Maui, um semideus muito convencido, mas ele é um elemento mais cómico do que propriamente alguém fundamental para a aventura de Moana. Ele ensina-a a viajar em alto mar, como se guiar pelas estrelas, orientar a canoa, mas não mais do que isso. A Moana é a verdadeira heroína deste filme, e uma rapariga cheia de coragem, com um coração enorme e muito inteligente.
Mas… quando o filme terminou soube-me a pouco. É um filme muito bom e importante, pois a Disney está cheia de princesas loiras e pele clara. Eu sei… Pocahontas, Tiana… Mas é preciso muito mais do que isso, e caminhamos para lá! Não achei as músicas nada de especial, são facilmente esquecíveis. Gostei imenso do The Rock como Maui e o mini-Maui é genial.
Para concluir, é um bom filme, mas nada de extraordinário. Esperava mais dele.

Review:
I wanted to watch Moana since people started talking about it on the internet. It’s undeniable that Disney has such extraordinary and talented animators working with them. I was marvelled by this movie’s visual effects: buoyant Moana’s hair, such bright colours, and all the fluidity of movements.
Moana, the daughter of Chieftain of the Polynesian island of Motunui, is chosen by the Ocean to find the heart of a mystic Goddess. She has to find Maui, a demigod, and return Te Fiti’s heart to where it belongs. This is what I loved the most about this movie: girl power! Moana has Maui’s help, an arrogant demigod, but he’s more the comical character than anything else. He teaches Moana to sail, how to use the stars to find her way in the ocean, how to manipulate the boat, but no more than that. Moana is the true heroine of this movie, she’s a brave and smart girl, with a huge heart.
But… when the movie ended, it didn’t meet my expectations. It’s a good and important movie, since Disney is full of blond and pale Princesses. I know… Pocahontas, Tiana… but we need way more than that, and we are in the right direction. I didn’t enjoy the songs, they’re easily forgotten. I loved the Rock as Maui; and mini-Maui is genius!
In the end, it’s a good movie, but not an extraordinary one. I was hoping for more.

Opinião:
Este livro foi lido durante Janeiro e terminado no início de Fevereiro, por isso admito que os pormenores da história já não estão frescos na minha memória. Críticas com mais urgência passaram à frente mas ele não foi esquecido.
Triunfo da Amante é o terceiro livro do Quarteto Fairbourne. Já antes de ter conhecido a autora, Madeline Hunter, que os seus livros eram de compra automática para mim – ainda mais depois de ter o privilégio de jantar com ela.
Gosto particularmente que Madeline, como outras autoras de romances históricos por vezes fazem, faça pequenos cameos de personagens dos livros anteriores no livro corrente. Neste caso, a personagem principal é Marielle Lyon, amiga de Emma e Cassandra (personagens principais do primeiro e segundo livro, respectivamente) – e estas fazem pequenas aparições no livro, o que me dá imenso prazer ler.
Marielle é uma personagem interessante. Manipuladora, ela consegue que as coisas corram como ela quer – até que elementos estranhos entram em acção e tudo muda. Já Gavin Norwood, visconde Kendale, sempre desconfiou dela. Mas aprende que atrás da fachada que ela mostra ao mundo (ou tem de mostrar, na realidade), há uma verdade bem diferente.
Ambos têm um sentido de honra e amor filial bastante forte e esse é um dos grandes motores da história – além de, claro, o romance que se desenvolve entre o casal.
Não querendo estragar o fim a ninguém, digo apenas que este livro inclui aventuras e algum mistério, com amor e dúvidas à mistura. Sem dúvida uma continuação digna do Quarteto Fairbourne.

Review:
This book was read during January and finished in the beginning of February, so I’ll admit that most details aren’t exactly still fresh in my memory. Some reviews with more urgency came ahead, but this book wasn’t forgotten.
The Counterfeit Mistress is the third book of the Fairbourne Quartet. Even before meeting Madeline Hunter, her books were auto-buy books – now even more, after having the privilege of dining with her.
I really like that Madeline, like some others historical romance authors do, writes little cameos for characters of previous books. In this case, the main character is Marielle Lyon, friend of Emma and Cassandra (the main characters of book one and two of the Fairbourne Quartet, respectively) – and they make small appearances in the book, which gave me immense pleasure.
Marielle is an interesting character. Manipulative, she can make things go her way, until the day strangers appear and everything changes. Garvin Norwood, Viscount Kendale, always suspected Marielle. But he’ll learn that there is more to her than the front she shows the world (or that she has to show, to be honest).
Both of them have a big sense of honour and filial love, and that’s one of the things that drives this book – apart from the romance between the main couple, of course.
I don’t want to spoil it for anyone, so I’ll just add that this book has adventure and mystery, with love and doubts mixed in. Definitely a worthy continuation of the Fairbourne Quartet.
Esta é uma publicação especial. Este texto estava planeado na minha cabeça há já alguns dias, e no domingo recebi uma notícia incrível que me deixou super feliz! Assim que ela me disse que ia criar uma loja Etsy e vi os primeiros designs que ela criou e não resisti e comprei um para mim e outro para a Joana. Apaixonei-me por eles e eram a cara da Joana (não fosse ela uma grande apaixonada pela Bela e o Monstro). Os marcadores são feitos à mão e o papel tem uma qualidade extraordinária. Fiquei verdadeiramente surpreendida, pela positiva, com estes marcadores. Uma vez que fui a primeira venda da Marking Dreams recebi uma prendinha super adorável.

This is a special post. This text was planned in my mind for a while now, and on Sunday I received really good news, which made me super happy! This post is about this super new Etsy store called Marking Dreams, created by Rocio – a lovely and talented Spanish girl I met in bookstagram community.
As soon she told me she was going to open an Etsy store and I saw her first designs I couldn’t resist and bought one for me and another to give to Joana. I fell in love with them and they were perfect for Joana (she’s a hardcore Beauty and the Beast fan). These bookmarks are handmade and the quality of the paper is extremely good. I was truly surprised in a positive way by these bookmarks. Since I was her first sale she gave me a lovely gift.

Opinião:
No segundo livro da série Highland Grooms, Julia London leva-nos novamente à Escócia. Enquanto que no primeiro livro tínhamos como personagens principais Margot Armstrong e Arran McKenzie, neste temos o filho mais velho destes, Cailean Mackenzie e uma dama inglesa, Daisy Bristol.
Daisy é uma viúva com um filho pequeno que, ao descobrir que o filho tem uma pequena propriedade na Escócia, decide levá-lo para lá, de modo a afastar-se dos muitos pretendentes que a cercavam, mas também para tentar melhorar a saúde do rapaz.
A atracção entre Daisy e Cailean é quase instantânea, mas o que mais gostei foi que apesar de haver essa atracção, não é só nisso que a sua relação se baseia. Tem amizade, amor e apoio. Cailean é óptimo com o filho de Daisy, e gosta verdadeiramente do rapaz, independentemente da mãe que ele tem.
A possível relação de Daisy e Cailean é apanhada no meio da guerra entre escoceses (alguns jacobitas) e ingleses, o que dificulta até a sua amizade, mas tanto Cailean são teimosos e quando querem algo arranjam maneira. Como acontece, para isso têm de ler o livro. E acreditem que vão gostar.
Romance, amizade, alguma paixão e luxúria pelo meio, são os ingredientes perfeitos que fazem com que este livro seja tão agradável de ler. Cada vez gosto mais dos livros da Julia London.

Review:
In the second book of the Highland Grooms series, Julia London takes us back to Scotland. In the first book, the main characters were Margot Armstrong and Arran McKenzie. Now, this is the story of their son, Cailean Mackenzie, and an English lady, Lady Daisy Bristol.
Daisy is a widower with a young son. When she discovers that he has a small property in Scotland, she decides to take him there, to be away from all her suitors, but also to try and improve the boy’s health.
The attraction between Daisy and Cailean is almost instantaneous, but what I really liked was that although that attraction was there, it was more than that. Their relationship was a mix of friendship, love and support. Cailean is great with Daisy’s son, and he really likes him, independently of who his mother is.
The possible relationship between Daisy and Cailean is threatened by the Scottish rising (the Jacobites) and the English, which makes it hard for them to be friends, even harder to be more than that. But both Cailean and Daisy are stubborn and know how to fight for what they want. How they manage it, you’ll have to read the book to find out. And believe me, you’re going to like it.
Romance, friendship, some passion and lust – these are the perfect ingredients that make the book so easy and pleasant to read. I like Julia London’s books more and more every day.
