Sinopse:
Branna O'Dwyer has a rich and remarkable life. Her little shop in County Mayo is thriving and her close circle of friends and family have found love and happiness. But Branna's own heart remains closed - to protect herself and the man she loves from a terrible threat. She reached out once to Finbar Burke - and it almost destroyed them both. Fin and Branna have both inherited a gift for magic, but Fin shares his blood with an old and terrible enemy. And so the two friends have kept their distance, both secretly yearning for the impossible. That distance has kept them safe - and unhappy. But as a final battle draws close, Branna and Fin are brought irresistibly together. And while they succumb to the heat between them, there can be no promises for tomorrow…

Review: Blood Magick is the last book of the Cousins O’Dwyer trilogy and it brings us the story of Branna and Fin, whom as young people had had a romance until she discovered that Fin bared the mark of the man she was doomed to fight, and the cause of all their problems: the evil witch that had tried to seduce Sorcha, from whom Branna, Connor and Iona descended. He was the person that had made them all come together to fight him and at the same time kept them apart.
But what Branna doesn’t know is that Fin (who has always fought on the side of light) doesn’t only carried this sorcerer’s blood – but telling you who he is also a descendant from would be a spoiler. It’s interesting to see Sorcha’s regret for her curse, the fight (both inner and exterior) that this family and friends have to do to end once and for all the malevolent man/creature that was this monstrous wizard.
It’s a book that shows how hard it is to let go of some ideas, and how hard you have to fight for happiness as an individual, but also as a group part of a family, with an evolution that culminates in a happy ending. An appropriate ending, with lots of magic, seduction and romance, friendship and new beginnings. I’ll miss them.

Sinopse:
With the legends and lore of Ireland running through his blood, falconer Connor O'Dwyer is proud to call County Mayo home. It's where his sister, Branna, lives and works, where his cousin, Iona, has found true love, and where his childhood friends form a circle that can't be broken....
A circle that is about to be stretched out of shape — by a long-awaited kiss.
Meara Quinn is Branna's best friend, a sister in all but blood. Her and Connor's paths cross almost daily, as Connor takes tourists on hawk walks and Meara guides them on horseback across the lush countryside. She has the eyes of a gypsy and the body of a goddess...things Connor has always taken for granted — until his brush with death propels them into a quick, hot tangle.
Plenty of women have found their way to Connor's bed, but none to his heart until now. Frustratingly, Meara is okay with just the heat, afraid to lose herself — and their friendship — to something more. But soon, Connor will see the full force and fury of what runs in his blood. And he will need his family and friends around him when his past rolls in like the fog, threatening an end to all he loves....?

Review:
I’ll start by saying I liked the first book better than this one – but I still liked it.
What was missing in this book, for me, was the romance between Connor and Meara – it seemed a bit weak. I liked the travels to meet ancestors and all the magic involved, but the romance lacked. Maybe because, for me, they seemed better as individual characters than as a couple. The friendship and companionship is still one of the best things about this book.
Still, it was a good book, that left me wanting more and it left me anxious to read the next one!

Sinopse:
Neste livro temos romance e magia, a combinação ideal.
Title: Dark Witch Serie: The Cousins O'Dwyer Trilogy #1 Author: Nora Roberts Publisher: Berkley Pages: 342 Publication date: 29th October 2013
Synopsis:
With indifferent parents, Iona Sheehan grew up craving devotion and acceptance. From her maternal grandmother, she learned where to find both: a land of lush forests, dazzling lakes, and centuries-old legends.
Ireland. County Mayo, to be exact. Where her ancestors’ blood and magic have flowed through generations—and where her destiny awaits.
Iona arrives in Ireland with nothing but her Nan’s directions, an unfailingly optimistic attitude, and an innate talent with horses. Not far from the luxurious castle where she is spending a week, she finds her cousins, Branna and Connor O’Dwyer. And since family is family, they invite her into their home and their lives. When Iona lands a job at the local stables, she meets the owner, Boyle McGrath. Cowboy, pirate, wild tribal horseman, he’s three of her biggest fantasy weaknesses all in one big, bold package. Iona realizes that here she can make a home for herself—and live her life as she wants, even if that means falling head over heels for Boyle. But nothing is as it seems. An ancient evil has wound its way around Iona’s family tree and must be defeated. Family and friends will fight with each other and for each other to keep the promise of hope—and love—alive…
Review:
I missed reading a Nora Roberts’ book! It’s true that the structure of her stories is always quite similar but that doesn’t make me like less than other books. I found this one and the rest of the series at a library, by complete change, and it was a great book.
In it, we have magic and romance, the ideal match. Of the three books that make this series, this one was my favourite because I identified myself with the main character a lot. Iona is an amazing woman, strong and courageous, eager to please while still being herself, always ready to help, with a hunger for knowledge. She’s also a hopeless romantic who also loves horses, like me.
There’s a background story which I’ll only talk about in general: hundreds of years ago, an evil sorcerer wanted to force a light witch to join him, using every means possible to attack her. As a final act to protect her family, the witch ends up dying and cursing until someone of her lineage can kill him. Here’s where Iona, Connor and Branna are important.
Iona’s grandmother told her the stories of magic connected to her family, which was based in Ireland. And so, Iona travels to Ireland to find more about herself. Connor and Branna are siblings, and Iona’s cousins, and they are the ones that welcome her to Ireland. They teach her how to develop the magic that runs in her veins. Connor works with hawks and on stables, and he finds a job for Iona there, where she meets his friends, Boyle, and ends up falling in love with him. It’s a weird relationship in the beginning because he’s quite convinced that anything between them is going to end badly and ruin the group of friends, but in the end they sort out their problems.
It’s a book about family, friendship and companionship. And you can’t stop reading it because you’re always excited to know what’s going to happen next. Truly recommend it both to older Nora Roberts’ fans as well as the ones who are just starting to read this amazing author – you won’t be disappointed!
